Mud and Mirror Art
Participants make an artwork on wooden base arranging mirrors in a pattern of their choice and filling it with coloured paste. Once dry we wipe away the excess from the mirrors and our artwork is ready!

About the event
Mud and Mirror Work, also known as Lippan Kaam, is a traditional mural craft from the Kutch region of Gujarat. It involves using clay or mud to create raised patterns, which are then embedded with small mirrors. Originally used to decorate village homes, this artform is known for its earthy textures, intricate motifs, and shimmering mirror accents that reflect both light and culture.
In this workshop, participants will create a unique artwork on a board using the this unique technique. The process begins by arranging small mirrors into a decorative pattern of their choice—floral, geometric, or freeform.
Once the mirror layout is finalized, a coloured paste is applied carefully around and between the mirrors, filling the surface and forming the base design. Participants can choose from a range of earthy or festive colours to suit their aesthetic. After the paste sets, the excess is gently wiped off the mirrors, revealing…
