Mud & Mirror

In this hands-on session, participants will create a stunning 6x6-inch artwork inspired by the traditional Indian craft of Lippan Kaam or Mud and Mirror Work, widely practiced in Gujarat.

Each participant will begin with a 6x6” board and learn how to:

• Arrange mirrors in a pattern of their choice — geometric, floral, or abstract

• Prepare and apply coloured clay paste to fill in the design and build textured surfaces

• Experiment with tools to shape and detail their patterns

As the piece dries, the final step is to gently wipe the mirrors clean, bringing out the contrast between the reflective surfaces and the textured background.
