Sumi Ink Painting

Sumi ink painting is a meditative art form that uses black ink, water, and expressive brushstrokes to create depth, movement, and emotion with minimal elements. Instead of focusing on fine detail, it emphasises balance, negative space, and the natural flow of ink, allowing each stroke to feel intentional and alive.

Through techniques such as ink dilution, layered washes, wet-on-wet blending, and dry-brush textures, artists explore contrast and rhythm within a monochrome palette.
