About the event
Inspired by the iconic Bankura Horse of West Bengal – a celebrated symbol of folk artistry, devotion, and craftsmanship – this workshop invites participants to shape their own interpretation of this timeless form.
Known for its bold stance, elongated neck, flared ears, and stylized body, the Bankura horse originates from the terracotta traditions of Panchmura village. Traditionally offered at temples as a symbol of sacrifice and prayer, it has also come to represent rural Bengal’s rich artistic heritage.
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn the basics of clay modeling while exploring the signature features of the Bankura horse – from building the structure to detailing the form.
Note: Pieces created in this workshop will not be fired. However, they can be painted and used as decor pieces once dry.
