This painting is a part of Saurabh Kumar’s exploration series made during lockdown period of the pandemic with watercolor and ink on paper, where he explored his accessible immediate surroundings in which he noticed the nature growing in wild.

He romanticised and created his own understanding of suppression and expansion during the pandemic. The restrictions in movements led him to notice and investigate more on things around him, leading him to realise how things bloom when not intervened by external entities. During this, he also discovered lichen more contextually, knowing its symbiotical existence of separate organisms, formations, shapes and vibrant colors. He depicts lichens in a cropped proportion found on different surfaces in the wild such as stones and trees.
